Athelios SX

Product: La Roche-Posay Anthelios SX
Manufacturer: L’Oreal
Price: $29

Product Description: La Roche-Posay Anthelios SX is a daily moisturizing cream made to prevent sunburn and protect against ultraviolet Bcew_winner_seal.gif (UVB) and ultraviolet A (UVA) rays. Is has a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15. Anthelios SX is one of the most effective sunscreens on the market and has garnered a favorable following because it contains a key active ingredient, Mexoryl SX (ecamsule). In fact, Anthelios SX received a 2007 CEW Award for Best Sun Care Product.

Although used in Canada and Europe since 1993, was not approved for use in products by the FDA in the US until July 2006. Mexoryl SX protects against short UVA rays (the cause of deep connective tissue damage). UVA light is the culprit for premature aging and cell-level damage. Anthelios SX also contains Parsol 1789 (avobenzone), which helps protect against long UVA rays, and Octocrylene, which helps protect against UVB rays (the cause of surface sunburn).

Because Mexoryl SX fills a gap in sun protection previously unavailable in the US, Anthelios SX is a good choice to ward off the damaging effects of UVA light and ultimately, reduce the occurrence of eye wrinkles.

Usage: Anthelios SX should be applied liberaly to the face, neck, hands and other exposed areas of the body on a daily basis and at least 30 minutes before sun exposure. It should be reapplied as needed or after towel drying, swimming or perspiring.
